Challenges /current situation

  • Poor human settlement which lacks basic facilities like water, sanitation, security, health facilities, recreation, roads, road encroachment, solid waste management, schools and pollution of water.
  • Land use conflicts from different actors
  • Demographic pressure due to rising fertility levels this has led to sub division of uneconomic pieces of land resulting to food insecurity.
  • Peri-urban pressure e.g. Housing
  • Land being used as a commodity without control on the implications.

Interventions/Solutions

Short Term

  • Provide data base to guide decisions
  • Enforcement of guidelines and regulations
  • Allocation of personnel and finance
  • Improved coordination between various players
  • Land use policy guidelines to be formulated to determine minimum sizes and designate land use

Medium

  • Prioritize areas for implementations for each sector

Long term

  • Prepare master plan to project into the future in relation to Sewer, Water, Housing and Community facilities
