Challenges /current situation
- Poor human settlement which lacks basic facilities like water, sanitation, security, health facilities, recreation, roads, road encroachment, solid waste management, schools and pollution of water.
- Land use conflicts from different actors
- Demographic pressure due to rising fertility levels this has led to sub division of uneconomic pieces of land resulting to food insecurity.
- Peri-urban pressure e.g. Housing
- Land being used as a commodity without control on the implications.
Interventions/Solutions
Short Term
- Provide data base to guide decisions
- Enforcement of guidelines and regulations
- Allocation of personnel and finance
- Improved coordination between various players
- Land use policy guidelines to be formulated to determine minimum sizes and designate land use
Medium
- Prioritize areas for implementations for each sector
Long term
- Prepare master plan to project into the future in relation to Sewer, Water, Housing and Community facilities
